Starloft Photography & Design is based in Alexandria, Virginia. We use a combination of traditional and photojournalistic techniques to photograph a variety of subjects. Starloft shoots weddings, events, portraits, and large groups. Our services are described in more detail below, and we are open to projects not listed below. Starloft also design albums, picture directories, memory books, event books, fliers, greeting cards, invitations, postcards, and other products involving photographs (yours and/or ours). Details about are products can be found by navigating the menu on the left of this page. We love to capture unscripted photographic moments as they happen to tell a story. Each project is artistically done, custom designed, and high-quality printed at a professional lab. We do not own a studio; instead, we shoot on location giving each project uniqueness. We shoot using professional digital SLR cameras. You can view some of our favorite photos that we have shot during the last couple years in our online portfolio. We are working hard to expand our portfolio and to eventually gain acceptance into WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association), WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International), and other photography associations. Weddings

As much as possible, we strive to blend in among the wedding party and guests, unobtrusively capturing the moments of the day as they unfold to beautifully tell your wedding story. We can also take an active role directing creative and traditional portraits of the bride and groom, wedding party, and your family. Our standard wedding package includes complete wedding day digital photographer coverage up to ten hours, an engagement photo session at the location of your choice (usually 1 hour), high resolution online image proofs, personalized photo cards featuring an image from your engagement session letting your guests know how they can view your photos online, and low resolution image proofs on CD (suitable for email and websites). Customize your package by adding coffee table albums, parent albums, prints, invitations, thank you cards, ceremony programs, and other photographic products. You, your family, and your friends can purchase prints and products following your wedding day from our online gallery. We are also available to shoot "trash the dress" sessions, showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, rehearsals, and other related events.

An engagement session is a fun, low-pressure experience prior to shooting your wedding. Engagement sessions are very important to us because they give us time to establish a personal relationship with you and get to know your tastes and desires better and for you to become comfortable with me as your wedding day photographer.



Essentially, a "trash the dress" session is a photo shoot done after your wedding day in your wedding clothes in unusual places that often result in ruining your dress and fabulous photos. Such places include beaches, swimming pools, urban areas, farm land, meadows, waterfalls, mechanic shops, kitchens, art studios, or wooded areas. The following description is taken from wikipedia.com: "Trash the dress refers to photographs that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is completely out of place. It is generally shot in the style of glossy beauty and glamour photography. ...A model often wears a ball gown, prom dress or wedding dress, and may effectively ruin the dress in the process by getting it wet, dirty or in extreme circumstances tearing or destroying the garment. It may also be done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again."

Events

Event photography service covers events such as, but not limited to, concerts, dances, birthday parties, conferences, baptisms, retirement parties, galas, fund raisers, award ceremonies, proms, holiday parties, and business meetings. As much as possible, we strive to blend in among your guests, unobtrusively capturing the moments of the event as they unfold. If desired, we can also take an active role directing creative and traditional portraits of you and your guests. Event photography includes complete event digital photographer coverage for up to eight hours and high resolution online image proofs. Customize your package by adding event books, prints, or other photographic products. You and your guests can also purchase prints and products following your event from our online gallery. If desired, you can add low resolution image proofs on CD (suitable for email and websites) to your package.

Large Groups

Large group photo sessions cover groups of all kinds including, but not limited to, schools, sports teams, church memberships, clubs, organizations, and companies. Each group photo session includes individual shots of each member of your group and group shots of the entire group at the location of your choice and high resolution online image proofs. Add candid shots of your group in action, if desired. Customize your package by adding prints, pictorial directories, event books, trader cards, memory mates, or other photographic products. If desired, you can add low resolution image proofs on CD (suitable for email and websites) to your package.

Portraits

Portraits sessions include, but are not limited to, individuals, executive, seniors, promos, bands, families, maternity, babies, children, and pets. Each portrait session includes a photo shoot at the location of your choice (usually 1-3 hours) and high resolution online image proofs. Customize your package by choosing prints, albums, greeting cards, and other photographic products. If desired, you can add low resolution image proofs on CD (suitable for email and websites) to your package.
