Exciting News! We have acquired a studio space in Plymouth and will be available for shoots there starting July 1st! It is inside the amazing old Burroughs building at the corner of Haggerty Road and Plymouth Road in Plymouth, Michigan. We can shoot headshots, video, product photography, and other studio work at the new space. We will be having a ribbon cutting event in September. We hope you can join us!
Exciting news! I took the FAA Part 107 Unmanned Aerial General Exam today and passed! So, I am now legal to fly a drone for commercial purposes like aerial photography and aerial videography! I should get my temporary license online in a few days and then a physical permanent license will be mailed to me in several weeks. If you need aerial photo or aerial video for your business, please contact us to discuss your needs!
We’re pretty excited to be featured on the Animoto Blog! Author, Megan O’Neill, interviewed Jennifer and wrote the article to provide tips for shooting interiors. Check it out here:
So, first, I have some exciting news! Today I hired an assistant! The lovely and talented Ms. Julianne Schultz. I’m looking forward to teaching her and having her help. I think it will mean great things for Starloft Photo & Video in 2015! More about her will come very soon!
Today we did portraits with Santa and on-site printing of 4×6 prints for the Domus Vita holiday party. Domus Vita provides services for developmentally disabled adults. Because of the nature of their business and privacy concerns, we aren’t able to share the portraits here on our blog, but I just wanted to share how much fun the event was! The party was held at the Italian American Banquet Center in Livonia, Michigan. There was a meal and a pretty rocking DJ. It seemed everyone had a great time, and they were able to take a printed portrait home with them as they left. Fun times.
Working with the developmentally disabled was a bit challenging at times as I was taking the photos, but it really got me thinking about how these people need so much care in the day-to-day that I think sometimes we forget how miraculous their lives are. I heard story after story as I was shooting about how “the doctors said so-and-so wouldn’t live past age 10” or “she’s been a patient of ours for 19 years.” It made me remember just how amazing all of our lives are and to not take our abilities for granted. Could you imagine not being able to walk or being able to hear? I can’t even begin to imagine. Be thankful today for what God has enabled you to do.
Big news… My family and I are moving to Michigan! Our house in Virginia was listed for sale yesterday afternoon! If you or someone you know might be interested in our home, please contact Pam Jones from Long & Foster – Extraordinary Transitions. We’ve been pretty busy the last couple months working hard on fixing up our house and preparing it for listing with the staging help of Donna Brandon from Staged 4 Success. It’s looking fabulous! I wish we did all this work to make our house look awesome when we first moved in! So, I’ll be in Michigan for the next couple weeks looking for our new home and I probably won’t have any more shoots here in Virginia. I do want to thank all my clients here for their business and the friends I’ve made here for their support and referrals. You are all awesome!
The Realtor position in my business networking group (BNI – Loudoun Business Connection) is now open. So, today our group had a Realtor focus day instead of the usual keynote speaker. So, there are a lot of Realtors visiting our chapter until we pick one to fill the spot (which probably won’t be until the end of January at the earliest). Might be a good time for those of you looking to meet Realtors to come visit!
Next week’s keynote presenter will be Craig Wells from Mainstreet Landscaping. We meet every Wednesday from 11:30am-1:30pm at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg. Let me know if you’d like to come check it out!
