We’re making some major changes around here! Starloft Photo & Video is now Starloft Photography. Moving forward we will be focusing on portraits of all kinds specializing in headshots and personal brand. While many businesses are moving out and closing, we signed a lease for a new studio space in Canton, Michigan this week! It’s a 1200 square foot retail space on Michigan Avenue at Lotz Road, very close to I-275. There will be two shooting areas, one with controlled lighting and backdrops and one with large windows with plenty of natural light and stylish furniture. We’re hoping to have all the renovations done by mid-November in time for a Black Friday grand opening sale. We’ll do an outdoor ribbon cutting event in the spring when the weather warms up again. Our goal with every session will be to deliver a high level of customer service, create a portfolio of beautiful imagery, and deliver high quality products through an expertly guided and customized process. Who do you know that needs a new headshot? Who needs personal brand photography? Who would like new family portraits? Who do you know that has high school kids who will need senior portraits? Baby or childrens portraits? Other portraits? Give us a call, and lets get you on the schedule!
Navy Blue Baking Co. came to me wanting quality food photography of their vegan baked items. We photographed cookies, cheesecake bites, brownie bites, mini muffins, and granola at our home studio in Canton, Michigan. The brownie bite shot was positioned to allow text on the right side of the image. The graphic design using the images is a great thing to think about in planning your shot list.
Laura came to us needing a headshot showing a natural outdoor setting in the background for her essential oil business. The outdoor session worked well due to the the COVID-19 outbreak, too.

Integrity Naturals came out with some new products and labels for their revamped company a few months back, but there are still some stragglers that need to be captured by the camera! Product photography is always essential for any business that wants a successful online presence, but even more so when you undergo a company makeover. New look, new products, new photos. Let’s take a look at these totally natural and 100% good-for-you products!
We stopped by this large industrial building in Romulus for a shoot. Arco built this warehouse, and it’s currently used to store food for grocery stores. It was quite chilly in there! We were going to shoot aerial shots of the building, as well, but because of its proximity to the airport, we weren’t able to fly our drone to take photos legally. If you’re ever interested in aerial photography know that FAA regulations may prohibit it. Some areas are not safe spaces for drones to fly. Now, let’s check out this warehouse!
University of Michigan held a Coding Competition at the Michigan League on their Ann Arbor campus. The competition started at 11 a.m. and students spent the day coding for Terminal, a game where the goal is to beat the “boss” by writing algorithms that would automate their gameplay. The students were broken into teams of three and together they worked to defeat the boss in Terminal and to win a cash prize plus exclusive job opportunities. This event was hosted by Society of Women Engineers and Correlation One, and sponsored by Citadel Securities, who had recruiters present to talk with students about their interest in coding. It was an all day event with lunch included. At the end of the day, only two teams could win with their boss-beating algorithms. It was a super cool event to witness with so many intelligent and motivated young adults. Check it out!
Welcome to Flushing Orthodontics in Flushing, MI! Take a virtual stroll through the offices and peek around to see what they have in store for their clients. We love Google Business View tours because you can capture everything. We especially love that you can “walk” inside the x-ray rooms and see the large machinery. Take a look around!
We worked with Spark Headphones to photograph their Smart Glow Headphones in non-glow mode. Although the selling feature of this product is the glowing, it’s important to have photos of the product when it’s not on so customers know what it looks like. If you have a product that changes from it’s original form, it’s beneficial to have photos of your product in all of it’s forms. This allows the customer to know what to expect when purchasing the product, and can even help decide whether they order or not.
