Eberspaecher on Gen-Mar

This afternoon I braved the cold and snow to photograph a commercial building for The Gladstone Companies. It was about 25 degrees out when I did the shoot. The tenant was Eberspaecher and the building was located on Gen-Mar in Novi, Michigan. The sky was pretty dreary. So, I did some sky replacement in Photoshop. Here’s a before and after image to show the editing I did to get the final image.

The client wanted images to show both the Eberspaecher logo and the depth of the building. Unfortunately, there was a gigantic pile of snow blocking that angle. So, I tried my best to work around it.

Moving to Michigan

Big news… My family and I are moving to Michigan! Our house in Virginia was listed for sale yesterday afternoon! If you or someone you know might be interested in our home, please contact Pam Jones from Long & Foster – Extraordinary Transitions. We’ve been pretty busy the last couple months working hard on fixing up our house and preparing it for listing with the staging help of Donna Brandon from Staged 4 Success. It’s looking fabulous! I wish we did all this work to make our house look awesome when we first moved in! So, I’ll be in Michigan for the next couple weeks looking for our new home and I probably won’t have any more shoots here in Virginia. I do want to thank all my clients here for their business and the friends I’ve made here for their support and referrals. You are all awesome!

BNI Realtor Focus Day

The Realtor position in my business networking group (BNI – Loudoun Business Connection) is now open. So, today our group had a Realtor focus day instead of the usual keynote speaker. So, there are a lot of Realtors visiting our chapter until we pick one to fill the spot (which probably won’t be until the end of January at the earliest). Might be a good time for those of you looking to meet Realtors to come visit!

Next week’s keynote presenter will be Craig Wells from Mainstreet Landscaping. We meet every Wednesday from 11:30am-1:30pm at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg. Let me know if you’d like to come check it out!

Wasser Christmas Party

On Saturday night, I photographed a totally fun Christmas party for the Wasser Family. This was the 25th year in a row that they have done a Christmas party to celebrate with their friends. So, this one was special for them. They set up a fun background with stringed lights behind white fabric with some silver trees and champagne for photographing couples as they arrived. Later during the party I printed the portraits and put them into cardboard ornament frames for the Wassers to give their guests as gifts. Unfortunately, I didn’t think of it at the time, but I should have photographed the printed images in their frames once they were complete so I could show you how smashing they were. The prints were a big hit. There was also some great food, a live singer, and some super cute elves to greet guests and take their coats. A great time was had by all!

Wicker Homes Client Appreciation Party

This past weekend I photographed a client appreciation party for Wicker Homes. It was a great time! There was delicious food, wine, and GG’s Frozen Treats. Their party was a “Party with a Purpose” which included a silent auction and raffle to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network. I donated a family portrait session as part of the silent auction which received bids. So, I am happy that I can use my photography to help the cause. There was also some other fun activities including shuffleboard, billiards, and darts.

UPDATE: $3,125 was raised for Children’s Miracle Network! I’m proud to know such generous people!

Godolphin Drive Bathroom Remodel

Recently, I photographed another bathroom remodel by Collins Tile & Stone which was pretty challenging. The shower had some glass doors with a bright window directly across from the doors so the reflection of the window showed in the shower glass. A polarizing filter really helps cut glare from reflective surfaces. I had recently sold my cheap polarizing filter because it was adversely affecting the quality of my images. But I hadn’t yet ordered a new, higher quality polarizing filter. I really wish I had one for this shoot. So, I just ordered a new one so I have it for the next shoot. To solve the issue, I got some big black garbage bags and covered most of the window with them and then I did quite a bit of editing in Photoshop to remove the reflection of the window. Here are the before and after images:

And here’s one more image that I rather liked that really showcases the company’s tile work on the walls and floor. I don’t usually like images that have the toilet in them, but this one was pretty well hidden by the dividing wall.

Shallow Rock Square Bathroom

I had the opportunity to shoot another bathroom remodel by Collins Tile & Stone yesterday. I had a little trouble with this one because I had a pretty small space to work in. It was a rectangular, narrow space with the toilet at one end (which I try not to include in the photos very often) and glass shower doors at the other end (which pretty much act like a mirror reflecting my likeness back unless I’m at an angle). The shower was pretty sweet with two shower heads and beautiful tile.
